SAIGON Battery

How far can SAIGON take me without charging?

Saigon+: Up to 120km
Saigon S: Up to 75km

We use premium Samsung 18650 cells in all of our 2022 bikes. Samsung is the market leader in long-lifespan lithium-ion batteries.

Lifespan

Users should note that all batteries will degrade over time but we suggest you take a number of precautions to extend the lifespan of your battery pack.

  • Avoid fully charging and discharging the battery. The optimal charge state is from 30-70% of full capacity.
  • Do not let the battery fully deplete. This may cause irreversible harm to your battery and stop all functions.
  • Do not leave your battery in cold conditions. Store your battery in a safe and dry location between 10-15 degrees. We do not recommend you store the battery inside your home or next to flammable objects.
  • Do not leave your eBike or battery unattended while charging.

Battery range is highly dependent on riding conditions. Factors such as rider weight, terrain, power assistance level, temperature, and many more all affect the distance you will travel on a battery charge.

We know many will ride their bikes at power level 5, the most powerful setting, and therefore can expect a battery range of up to 120km.

GPS
Bikes fitted with GPS will experience a 1-3% reduction of battery charge per day, regardless of whether you are riding your bike. This is due to the GPS constantly monitoring location, temperature etc.

Nothing at all - there will be no resistance from the motor when it is powered off, it's just like a regular bike.

Easy. Either lie the bike on it's side or flip it upside down. Locate the lock in the base of the frame. Open the lock. Slide the battery out. Done.

Absolutely. Only your key can access your battery terminal.

SAIGON Dimensions

Not sure if SAIGON will fit? We made three sizes to suit almost any size.

The SAIGON comes in three sizes.

Small: 140-155 cm
Medium: 155-175 cm
Large: 175-190 cm

*Estimated rider's height

700x40c.

SAIGON Motor

From A to B, no sweat.

SAIGON has a super-reliable and quiet front-hub motor, manufactured by AKM.

Many people ask us why a front motor instead of a rear motor.

After factoring in everything, it was clear a front motor was best for SAIGON, for FOUR key reasons:

1) It allowed us to keep all cables hidden inside the frame.

2) We fit a 30% larger battery.

3) It made the battery much easier to remove.

4) We could add gears and a belt drive.

The Aikema front-hub motor is 250-Watt with 50NM of torque. Due to EU road regulations, the motor is limited to 25km/h.

50dB. It's hard to express how quiet it really is, but we promise you won't think it's (too) loud.

MODs - Modular Accessories

MODs are in the prototyping and testing phase currently.

Current works in progress include: two Front Baskets, a Child Seat, a Food Delivery Box, a Pannier Rack and a Waterproof Pannier Bag.

There will be many more coming, so keep sending in your suggestions.

Theft Protection

How MODMO helps you enjoy a long-term relationship with your SAIGON.

Apart from physically locking the bike, we offer a 'lock' feature via our app.

Tap 'lock' and our software will set up a five-metre digital perimeter around your bike. If your bike moves outside the perimeter, we'll send you a notification and you can track the bikes GPS location in-app.

Every Saigon+ bike is fitted with a GPS sensor, so you can always track your bike through the iOS/Android app. Saigon S doesn't have this feature but we are working on adding this in the future versions of the bike.

Inside the back Modular Mount we have hidden a specific tool for loosening the uniquely shaped nuts that secure the wheels to our bikes. These nuts, called Mod Nuts, are fitted with a uniquely shaped groove into which only one kind of tool - our Mod Nut Adapter - will fit, protecting the wheels from theft.

You may wish to remove the tool from the bike and secure it somewhere else, but if keeping it with you is most convenient, hide inside the rear mount, ready for use.

The MOD-Nuts is only available with the Saigon+.

Quality Assurance

We test every bike rigorously to ensure it exceeds ISO Standards (4210-1:2014) by at least 20%. We put our bikes through a range of fatigue, impact, bending and force tests to guarantee they’re tough, durable and reliable.

We've carefully selected components to minimize maintenance.

In addition, the bike is designed for certain easy self-repair with instructions provided, and we'll ship you parts as needed.

In the rare case you need further assistance, contact us at support@modmo.io and bring your bike to one of our service partners or we'll send someone to collect it from you.

We offer a warranty for all MODMO manufactured components, such as the frame. The standard manufacturers warranty will apply for all third-party components as well.
