Unboxing the Saigon & Setting It Up

Welcome to another weekly update! Last time we mentioned that our first batch had now shipped so this week we thought we’d delve into how your bike will arrive and how to assemble it. The process is relatively quick and we’ve worked hard to make it nice and user friendly, so you will have your bike up and ready to ride in no time.
Out of the Box
Your Saigon will arrive mostly assembled in a large, bike-sized box. It will be wrapped up in protective packaging and there will be three smaller boxes inside with “accessories”, “charger” and “toolkit” written on them that you will use to set up the bike. The accessories box will include an array of accessories and the pedals, the charger box of course contains the charger, and the toolkit contains an eccentric bottom bracket adjustment tool, a 60mm spanner and an allen key. We have provided everything you need to set up your bike, including the tools, so once you have everything out of the box you’re ready to begin.
Straighten the Handlebars
Use the appropriate allen key provided to loosen the bolts on the handlebar stem just enough to rotate the handlebar. Adjust it to your desired position and retighten the bolts.
NOTE: Be careful not to over tighten them so as to not damage the thread on the bolts.
Fit the Pedals
Identify your right and left pedal symbolised by the letters R and L - it’s important to not mix these up as they are specific to each side of the Saigon. Both pedals are screwed on by turning the pedal axle towards the front of the bike. Wind the pedals in as far as you can by hand and then use the allen key from the other side of the bolt to tighten them.
NOTE: It is generally advised to grease the thread prior to installation.
Assembly Continues
Now that batch 1 is about to be shipped production continues so it won't be long before the streets of Europe will be filled with the Saigon bike. We're super excited!
Adjust the Sadle
Your Saigon will come with its saddle already installed but you may need to adjust its height to suit your preference. To do this, loosen the bolt below the saddle using the appropriate allen tool. Just loosen it enough to be able to move the saddle up and down as you please. Retighten the bolt when your saddle is in the right position but again, don’t over tighten to make sure that you don’t damage it.
Tyre Pressure
Your tires will arrive inflated but please check your tire pressure to ensure that it is at the appropriate level. We would recommend a tire pressure of around 40psi.
Charging Your Bike
You will need to charge your Saigon bike before it is ready to use. The process is super easy. Just remove the mod cap and the charging port protector and plug in the charger. It may take one or two full dis- and re-charges to reach your full battery capacity - this is normal. Turning on Your Saigon
Finally, the time has come to turn your Saigon on and take it out for a ride! The “on” button is located on the left hand side of the handlebars. Press it once and you will see the display turn on showing the speed, the battery level and the assistance level.
NOTE: the assistance level is always 1 when you turn the Saigon on.
You will see two “up” and “down” buttons above the “on” button to the left of your handlebars. You can use these to adjust the assistance level when you ride - it ranges from 0 (no assistance) to 5. You can also turn on the front light by pressing and holding the “up” button and activate the “push” function by pressing and holding the “down” button. Willkommen zu einem weiteren wöchentlichen Update! Letztes Mal haben wir erwähnt, dass unser Batch 1 verschickt wurde. Diese Woche wollen wir euch zeigen, wie euer Bike ankommt und wie ihr es zusammenbauen könnt. Der Prozess ist relativ schnell und wir haben hart daran gearbeitet, ihn so benutzerfreundlich wie möglich zu gestalten, damit ihr euer Bike in kürzester Zeit aufbauen und fahren könnt.
Aus der Box
Euer Saigon kommt größtenteils zusammengebaut in einer großen, fahrradgroßen Box an. Es ist schützend verpackt und enthält drei kleinere Boxen mit den Aufschriften "Zubehör", "Ladegerät" und "Werkzeug", die ihr zum Aufbau des Bikes verwenden werdet. Die Zubehörbox enthält eine Reihe von Zubehörteilen und die Pedale, die Ladebox enthält natürlich das Ladegerät und die Werkzeugbox enthält ein Werkzeug zum Einstellen des Tretlagers, einen 60mm Schraubenschlüssel und einen Inbusschlüssel. Wir haben alles, was ihr für den Aufbau eures Bikes braucht, inklusive der Werkzeuge, bereitgestellt, sodass ihr, sobald ihr alles aus der Box habt, loslegen könnt.
Lenker einrichten

Pedale montieren
Identifiziert das rechte und linke Pedal, symbolisiert durch die Buchstaben R und L - es ist wichtig, diese nicht zu verwechseln, da sie für jede Seite des Saigon spezifisch sind. Beide Pedale werden angeschraubt, indem man die Pedalachse zur Vorderseite des Bikes dreht. Dreht die Pedale mit der Hand so weit wie möglich ein und benutzt dann den Inbusschlüssel von der anderen Seite der Schraube, um sie festzuziehen.
HINWEIS: Es wird generell empfohlen, das Gewinde vor der Montage zu fetten.
Sattel einstellen
Das Saigon wird mit einem bereits montierten Sattel ausgeliefert, den ihr aber eventuell in der Höhe anpassen müsst. Löst dazu die Schraube unterhalb des Sattels mit dem passenden Inbuswerkzeug. Löst sie nur so weit, dass ihr den Sattel nach Belieben auf und ab bewegen könnt. Zieht die Schraube wieder an, wenn euer Sattel in der richtigen Position ist, aber zieht sie nicht zu fest an, damit ihr ihn nicht beschädigst.
Reifendruck
Die Reifen werden aufgepumpt geliefert, aber bitte überprüft den Reifendruck, um sicherzustellen, dass er auf dem richtigen Wert ist. Wir empfehlen einen Reifendruck von ca. 40psi.
Bike aufladen
Ihr müsst das Saigon Bike aufladen, bevor es einsatzbereit ist. Der Vorgang ist super einfach. Entfernt einfach die Mod-Kappe und den Schutz des Ladeanschlusses und schließt das Ladegerät an. Es kann ein oder zwei vollständige Ent- und Wiederaufladungen dauern, bis ihr eure volle Akkukapazität erreicht - das ist normal. Euer Saigon anschalten
Endlich ist es an der Zeit, das Saigon einzuschalten und es auf eine Fahrt mitzunehmen! Der "Ein"-Knopf befindet sich auf der linken Seite des Lenkers. Drückt ihn einmal und ihr werdet sehen, wie sich das Display einschaltet und die Geschwindigkeit, den Batteriestand und die Unterstützungsstufe anzeigt.
HINWEIS: Die Unterstützungsstufe ist immer 1, wenn ihr das Saigon einschaltet.
Über dem "Ein"-Knopf links vom Lenker könnt ihr zwei "Auf"- und "Ab"-Knöpfe sehen. Mit diesen kann man die Unterstützungsstufe während der Fahrt einstellen - sie reicht von 0 (keine Unterstützung) bis 5. Man kann auch das Frontlicht einschalten, indem man die "Auf"-Taste gedrückt hält und die "Push"-Funktion aktivieren, indem man die "Ab"-Taste gedrückt hält.
