What to expect when you receive your MODMO ebike
Our ebikes all come fully assembled, but there are a few minor things you need to do in order to prepare your Saigon ebike for the road.
What comes in the box with your MODMO ebike? How do you set it all up? Any tips from our team?
We have worked hard to ensure that you have everything you need when you receive your ebike and that our bicycles are intuitive from the get go, so that you will be out on the road as soon as possible.
Here’s a rundown of the tools and accessories that you will need to set it up and the best way to use them.
What’s in the box
First, what can you expect to receive with your MODMO ebike? We package our ebikes as full, pre-assembled bicycles and send them to you with a range of tools and extra parts.
These include: a charger for your battery, a spare front light and spare rear light, spoke reflectors and locking clips, then three key tools - an allen key, an eccentric bottom bracket adjustment tool and a spanner. You will also find your pedals in the box. We go into how to set them up later on in this article.
Setting up your ebike
The first step in setting up your MODMO ebike is to take it out of the box and gently straighten the handlebars. Use the allen key to ensure that the top-cap is tightly fastened so that the handlebars stay in place, but not too tight as this can cause the handlebar to feel stiff when you turn.
Next, use the allen key to tighten the two lateral screws on top of the post where the handlebar attaches to the frame. Again, not too tight!
Check your tyre pressure - we recommend letting them sit at about 35 to 45 psi - and adjust the saddle height so that when you sit on the saddle and put your foot on a pedal your leg is almost straight. You can do this using the allen key to loosen and tighten the seat post clamp.
Finally, attach the pedals! Our pedals come marked with an “R” and an “L” to indicate which sides of the bike they go on - Right and Left. The right pedal is screwed on clockwise and the left is screwed on anti-clockwise. You can do it by hand and tighten them with the spanner provided in the box.
Charging your battery
When your MODMO ebike reaches you, the battery will have some charge but we recommend that you charge it up to full capacity before you set off.
You will need to set up the charger and plug it in. You can either plug the charger in via the front mod-cap, or remove the battery from the base of the bike. Here are two videos explaining how to charge your ebike battery:

If you want to remove your ebike battery before charging it, check out this video for more details on how to take it out of the base of the bicycle frame.
How to remove your battery
Caring for your battery is important. Make sure you keep topping it up to keep it at 30% to 60% charge - this will help it achieve maximum performance over time. If you won’t be using your ebike for a period of time, store your battery at about 60% charge. This may mean checking it every month or so to charge it up.
