Die 3 besten Fahrradhandschuhe für den Weg zur Arbeit in diesem Winter
So you need a pair of cycling gloves. But there are so many options out there, which one would be best for you? We've curated a list of our favourite cycling gloves to get you started, and a guide for choosing them yourself.
Anyone who cycles to work regularly will know just how important it is to have a good pair of gloves at hand for their commute. In some parts of the world temperatures can hit incredible lows and you don’t want the elements whipping at your fingers while you ride!
But finding a good pair of cycling gloves isn’t as simple as wrapping up with the most padded gloves available - safety and utility come first. A good pair of cycling gloves will allow you to grip your handlebars tightly and feel the terrain as you would without gloves on, while still protecting your skin from the weather.
With this in mind, we’ve compiled a guide to finding the best winter cycling gloves along with five of our favourites for this season. Have a read!
How to Choose Your Cycling Gloves
What kind of weather will you be cycling in?
The most important consideration when choosing what cycling gloves you need is how you will be using them and what kind of weather you will be riding in.
For example, would your bicycle adventures better suit full-fingered gloves or cut-off mitts where half your fingers are exposed? Mitts can be an excellent choice for warmer weather as your hands won’t get sweaty under excess material, but in the winter your fingers will be freezing, gripping the front of your handlebars under all the wind that hits your bike.
You will also want to consider the waterproofing on your gloves. If you will be riding in wet weather a lot, you’re going to want to make sure that your gloves are fully water-resistant and wind-proof, to buffer your hands from the elements.
What kind of cycling will you be doing?
Your next consideration has to be what kind of cycling you will be engaging in - are you heading into the mountains, or will you be sticking to the roads? Are you a long-haul cyclist or a short journey kind of rider?
If you’re a MODMO customer, chances are you’ll be commuting to work or cycling around your city, in which case you may be looking for slimmer, more practical gloves that are built for people going shorter distances.
These may be thinner or more light-weight so that it’s not difficult to fix your coat or reach into your pocket if you need to. You may also want to look out for gloves with a touchscreen-sensitive fingertip so that you can use your phone without taking them off.
Another consideration is colour - the brighter the gloves, the more visible you are! This is particularly relevant for those who commute to work - choose gloves with colourful strips or reflective patches to make you easier to see on the roads.
